at night

the freaks come out. Lucky me I sleep at daylight. Life has been quite hectic lately: Demolishing an apartment, creating superduper stuff at my daily job and finalizing 2 projects: After some months, Reverso has been officially launched last month and the website for Rosalie is also live, except from a few textual issues.
And I realize I havent been in Berlin this year. Mmmmmm that sucks. What even sucks more is that I opened a facebook account so please shoot me, I liked the photos application which can be utterly handy for the compound progress. Talking about crazy, wrapping 26 panda bears in packaging tape is also pretty screwin with ur brains. Yes no maybe can you repeat the question?
Furthermore, it looks like I put panzafaust in the fridge for a while due to have cognitive overloads and some strange defunctive synapsisms over there. Much better.

Portfolio adjustments

Yes, Blix rules! But we all knew that. This evening (actually a long night) there were some modifications done on the CSS for Interactivechris.com. Mainly sidebar fixes: Each page now has its own sidebar, so that the content is received in a more efficient way. It was quite an arse, due to some annoying TEMPLATEPATHs and include sidebar.php’s. But actually, I’ve learned a lot about the conditional tags the wonderful world of Wordpress gives us. For those who where looking for the answers I found, Here’s a how to make different sidebar for each page summary (Blix theme - latest wordpress version) linkdump

Header and sidebar.php adjustments : here
Conditional tags: here

// EDIT 21/22th of april: and we’ve installed twitter and a xml driven banner rotator inside the sidebar in the profile section. Next: making the Enlightment section on the right overhere the same as the xml rotator. Coolex

Do the Right Thing

Wow that’s a long time no posting. I’m still alive, so let me tell you everything bout the tales from the krypt and some good Alexander Robotnick track from ‘82. Actually, I think he never made a bad track. Grinch.

Last few weeks were quite hectic. As a matter a fact, winds of change never have been this refreshing. First of all, I resigned at the Expo after 6 most delightful years, and starting this week at R&D Media in Amsterdam. It’s a fresh and young company that delivers mobile content; wallpapers, realtones and so on. My role in the designteam is the implementation of splashpages, banners and everything else that is way cool. Narcism just so fukkin rules when you see your creations live on a site that has over 100.000 unique visitors a day.

Next: Housing. Allready said what I wanted to say about this item elsewhere in the blog, so I wont bore you with that. But due to circumstances I’m currently living in the jungle of Schollevaar again and my lovely muse has got her own house in Rotterdam. It’s quite an old house, but with sweet old fashioned details. It will be a intensive job to fix. Hehehehe Hand me the keys you fukkin cocksucker! Sorry usual suspects quote that just was said 22929 times in a BBC show.

Panzafaust is going hardcore. Projects come in and in: Logos, banners, conceptpages, guerilla campaings, games, prints. I almost dont have time left for sleeping. But heck a day has 24 hours and a week 7 days. What if a day had 25 weeks? That would be strange eh? Guess it time to pull the plug out. Visual follows the dream.

Methodologies 1.0

Due to an inspiring chit chat I had yesterday, I found myself in the books and theories regarding interaction design principles and methodologies this morning. Jesse James Garett, Donald Norman, Jacob Nielsen and so on. Principles and methodologies are refined over and over again, thus we can say, it a sign of time.

Or isn’t it? Is there an almighty principle, a key that makes all other methodologies absolute? Many wise men have thought it over, from architecture and philosophy to HCI specialist and other creative folks (like me). In my opinion: there is a solid base, that is most minimal but nevertheless is a base for interaction design implementation. However, each project or company has its own key factors. The implementation of variables in the holy grail.

“Form follows function—that has been misunderstood. Form and function should be one joined in a spiritual union.”—Frank Lloyd Wright

Interesting. A topic most definitely to be continued.

Symbaloo

Just ran into a beta version of Symbaloo, a project of a good friend of mine, Robert Broeders. I know he and his team have been working on this web 2.0 application for a long time, and it’s actually fun to play with the concept now it has been launched for a few weeks. In short: Symbaloo is a launchpage which makes all your bookmarks visible in a nice grid. Add, drag and drop, search: its all in there.

It just rocks. It’s a new generation of launch pages. No more bookmarks in browser window, but your personal desktop for ze web. I read on the website that in the near future it will also be possible to log on your Symbaloo from another system. Nice!
From a design and user interaction pov, there is still a lot of work to do. But Rome wast build in one day was it? Competitors like Sputtr are more chaotic. The efficient and minimalistic overview of Symbaloo gives a better user experience , in my opinion. Ok, enough spam, just check it out and play with it yourself!

Got hyved

Hyves is for loosers and wankers and people that dont know shit. I thought. But with a 3 against 1 situation in Friedrichshain you’ll start thinkin that it could might be dope actually. HA! Started this freakin network relation community bonding thing like 3 days ago and I must admit that is most addictive. So if your interested in this carpe di crap, chek panzafaust on Hyves.

Nuff spam, Just got back from client meeting with Pim for the Reverso project. Within wo weeks, 3 concept screen with 1 subpage, total 5 weeks orso. And a shitload of backend cfm rethinking php. Cool stuff! The crossconcepts site is in heavy development, will start coding and adjusting the flv player right now and throw some thoughts on the gravity of sheeps. Ciao

Where are you now

Allrighty then, bonjour and hello again. After a few hectic weeks I finally got the time for updating the portfolio section. I added three new projects: The visual interface design of Spido, the website for Betty Boop and the banner campaign that was developed for alle-vakanties.nl. I just got back from Paris this weekend, packing my stuff again because next week I’ll be visiting Berlin. Sounds great right?

Ok, this is what happened past weeks: after the bday of Scheeters, a very pleasant show of Ellen ten Damme, a supah dupah but without glory match of Excelsior, a crazy evening slash night in Leiden at Sabines’ bday bash, and queensday 2007 it was time for some romance. Me and Roos went to Paris last week. I hadn’t been there since a decade ago and spring in Paris is always nice. The Eiffel Tower, Sacre Couer, Montmartre, Centre Pompidou and a brutal exhibition of Jean Paul Gaultier. Most delightful. Memories which should be painted, as Roos said later this weekend. Nous sommes les tetes du fromage.

Lucky me as I visit Berlin next week with Sander, Josien and Frans. It started in the epilogue of last years trip towards the Transmediale fetival, and finally things got more real a few weeks ago with the impulsive booking of a hostel. With the upcoming “Wo ist die Altstadt” exhibition planned in september 2007 in mind, for me this is going to be an actual business trip. Looking for galleries and expanding the network. Gotta love it.

The idea running around in my head is the conjunction of a lion and a bear. Two animals, both representing their city. I want to make an huge tape sculpture synthesis of the icons. Cool ideas, but still under heavy thoughts. Anywyas, it will be one hell of a Panzafaust item. The corporate website of Panzafaust is still being developed, I seem to run out of patience sometimes. But what is good, is good.

Another place another time

Woooohooo hello and welcome again. Never thought my health would run so wicked, I’m knocked down and out. Blehhh! Drugged out on 5 different medicines, something tell me that it is not normal my screen keeps on floating through my empty room, where space has defined its own narrative. Except from this vague concept, todays theme is housing. Housing can be seen as one of the most important needs in life, together with food, beverages and last but not the very least of all, love. After a year looking for the perfect spot, I’ve found the perfect place so close to me. Thank you big sister! What is happening these days: I take over the place of my beloved sis. This means that half april the Panzafaust compound is open for good! I’ll be living and workin in the most crazy ass cartoonish 70 vintage you’ve ever seen. Flicks and footage will follow, as will the testimonials. Yesterday, me and my mom have put a sweet green retro “behang” on the wall, it is planned to finish the kitchen tommorow. This sunday, I get the fridge and cooling department of my parents and we’ll be bringing somes filled boxes towards the compound. Something I started with last monday, half the maandagavond startrek avond crew helped me with the first 7 boxes. Suddenly I realised that I read too much.

Furthermore, the past week has been quite a productive week. I’ve made 9 banners for Summersupport.nl, a holiday organisation here in Rotterdam. The bill for the Spido assignment has also been send, and the Betty Boop project is almost finished. As soon as I get some freakin content text and pictures of them Grrrrr.

More IC incorporated hot news: Within 2 week, I’ll have a meeting with Pierre Gautier regarding his soon to be updated content. Selecting the images and so on. Yesterdays evening was also very interesting: I had a quick hit and run meeting at Blagrs place, in which Said also participated. Without revealing too much: He’s got some pretty neat cross media concepts in his head, which he wants to be realized. Very interesting: It will be our main project for the next 2 or 3 months. More projects: Pim van Velsen contacted me by mail, in which he went ok with the propositions for the Reverso and Waardenburg Wonen websites. Briefings and more meeting to come, make my day!

Culture Drone has officially died. No hard feelings, cause now we’ve got the Tribe Without A Medicine Man (TWAMM)(Thanks Erwin!). For real ese! It’s quite an affective name, and now it’s time to look at the horizon and see what we can build and create in the near future instead of drinking while brainstorming over a name. I read the notes and we’re thinking of Berlin again! Youzer!

Speaking of planned city trips: second of may, I’ll be visiting Paris with Roos, la citie d’amour, une fragola gelatti per favore. Three weeks later, I’m going to crash Berlin with an extended Bever Crew: Josien, Sander and Frans this time, by car: which is alot cheaper then by train or airplane. And hopefully, it’ll give us some time to debate about the meaning of life and the solar system in relation to the flowers. Right.

I guess its time to look for some walldecoration at Allposters.com
